The eerie silhouette of Ben Bulben, said to be the site of the grave of Queen Maeve, rises abruptly out of the plain. This is a land whose image and mythology inspired Irelands most famous poet, William Butler Yeats, for whom this was “The Land of Hearts Desire”. Although he died in France in 1939, in 1948 Yeats was finally laid to rest in Drumcliff Churchyard, “Under Bare Ben Bulbens Head”
